JS50 cover commemorating the 1,000 Bomber Raids and depicts a Manchester on the first raid. It also shows a Halifax of 35 Squadron being prepared for the Operation and Wellingtons of 12 OTU taking off from RAF Chipping Warden. Cover also depicts the Bomber Command badge. The cover bears the 31p 1986 Lancaster / Harris stamp cancelled with BFPS 2287 for the 50th Anniversary of the 1000 Bomber Raids.
Cover has been flown in Gazelle from RAF Northolt to Headquarters Strike Command High Wycombe, the wartime Headquarters of Bomber Command where Operation Millennium was planned and carried out. Then onto Brompton Barracks with Air Chief Marshal Graydon KCB CBE AOC in C, Strike Command and then back to RAF Northolt.
