JS50/42/11 Battle of El Alamein RAF cover signed 2 Majors
Cover produced for the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of El Alamein. Cover depicts the night bombardment which was the largest artillery barrage of he dester war. The British armoured column advancing, infantry attacking axis positions at Alamein and hurricane tank busters attacking Axis armour.

Cover bears 20p Victoria Cross Gallantry stamp cancelled with BFPS2312 for the 50th Anniversary.

Cover has been flown in VC10 of 10 Squadron from London Heathrow to Cairo conveying the Prime Minister, The Rt Hon John Major MP; The Secretary of State for Defence, The Rt Hon Malcolm Rifkind; The Chief of the Defence Staff, Field Marshal Sir Richard Vincnet GBE KCB DSO; several members of Parliament and other VIPs to the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of El Alamein. From Cairo flown further to Alexandria and on to Burg El Arab before being returned to Heathrow.
