JS(AC)53a RAF cover dual numbered AF4 as part of the Airborne Forces mini-series. The cover artwork depicts various scenes from 1941 in which the SAS took part including the SAS's first Operation 16 November 1941 in Tmini North Africa and SAS troop detachment in the Desert in 1941.
The cover bears the Pegasus logo for the Airborne Forces and bears 24p Ordanance Survey stamp which is cancelled with BFPS 2298 postmark for the 50th Anniversary of the SAS 16th November 1991. Cover was flown in a Tristar of 216 Squadron from RAF Brize Norton to Bahrain overflying the Gazala area where the first SAS Operation took place and where in 1941 216 Squadron dropped the Unit of the SAS. The cover was then flown from Bahrain flown to Penang to deploy military elements and returned to RAF Brize Norton via Brunei, Bangkok Colombo and Bahrain. Cover bears RAF Brize Norton Backstamp and The Parachute Regiment stamp on reverse.
