SP(BB)43 Flight Lieutenant Bill Green AE*

Green joined 501 Squadron in December 1936 Engine Fitter, in 1938 he was accepted to do pilot training and rejoined the squadron in July 1940 and converting to Hurricanes. He made two crash landings before being posted to 504 Squadron in November. He they trained to be a flying instructor. Later in the war he converted to Tempests and flew with 56 Squadron based in the Netherlands. He was shot down in February 1945 and was captured and held as a PoW until May.
