BB14x Battle of Britain - MM signed Avis Hearn MM

JS(CC)94e / JS(BB)14e 60th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain cover with artwork by Tony Theobald showing Supermarine Spitfires of No 74 Squadron, including the legendary 'Sailor' Malan flying Spitfire 'ZP-A' attacking He 111s. The cover shows the Military Medal which was famously awarded to the WAAFs at Biggin Hill for remaining at their posted during a heavy Luftwaffe attack and bears 1990 Gallantry Military Cross / Military Medal stamp cancelled with Remembering the Few Biggin Hill postmark on 15 September 2004.

Avis Hearn MM served as a WAAF during the Battle of Britain and was an operator at Poling radar Station. She was awarded the Military Medal for remaining at her post during an Air Raid on the 18 August 1940 when the radar station was heavily bombed and damaged by Luftwaffe Junkers Ju 87 dive bombers.
