Sir Frederick unfortunately passed away in September 1998, shortly after signing the envelopes. He was a Hurricane pilot with No 229 Squadron and also led this Squadron, when based at Northolt, for the last few days of the Battle of Britain and in North Africa during 1941. Whilst we were extremely grateful to Sir Frederick for autographing 200 envelopes, we deeply regret the loss of an exceptional airman.
